Report of The 1st ICCS Jamboree, 2010 Thailand, Asia-Pacific Region Empowering the Will: The Light, the Truth and the Way. At Vajiravudh National Scout Camp, Sriracha District, Chonburi, Thailand December 27, 2010 – January 2, 2011

Executive summary

The management of the 1st ICCS Jamboree, 2010 for the young people from Oversea and Thailand during 27 December 2010 – 2 January 2011 has been finished and succeeded. This Jamboree was not only an ordinary Jamboree, but also an extraordinary when it was integrated with the Religious Dimension and Interreligious Dialogue as a whole and shown clearly and distinctly as much as possible. In the event, all participants felt and had experienced “God be with us”, thank you for His blessings and Protection together with the tender mercy and care of Our Mother Mary, St. George, the Patron of Scouting and all the angels. The total number of participants, Rover Scouts National and International Service Teams from Thailand and 9 observer and members’ countries of ICCS was 5,259 persons. They were Korea, Japan, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Taiwan, Myanmar, Singapore and the United States of America.

It was a great honor that His Eminence Michael Cardinal Meechai Kitbunchu, Emiritus Archbishop of Bangkok Archdiocese and the Patronage of Thai Catholic (Ratanakosin) Scout Association and His Excellency Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, the Prime Minister of Thailand had been presided in the Opening Ceremony and visited the scouts in all 4 villages in the campsite of the Jamboree together with His Excellency Bishop Silvil Siriphong Jarassri of Chantaburi Diocese and His Excellency Mr. Chinnavorn Booyakiet, the Education Minister of Thailand and the President of National Scouts organization of Thailand, some members of the Representatives of people of Thailand, Members of NSOT, the governor of Chonburi Province, the honorable persons, the distinguish persons and many soldier and police guards.

Through the medias, the Press Conference, the courtesy visits, the public relations and foreign marketing supported by Thailand Conference and Exhibition Bureau, Prime Minister Office, Tourism Authority of Thailand and the collaboration of many members’ countries of ICCS, it was the good enhancement and making confidence that Thailand, in the situation of political conflict by the Redshirts group, had potential strong enough to organize this event for all the young people both Oversea and Thai.

During and after the Jamboree, all the participants and IST were satisfied with all the experience in and from all the activities integrated with Religious Dimension and Biblical Reflection and living together peacefully using the way of interreligious dialogue and prayer in the campsite, they became friends and enjoyed and fun and wanted to join in the Jamboree like this one again and again. The hospitality and visit any amazing places in Thailand had made all the adults and participants such as Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Indian, Philippines, who took participated in the programs happy and enjoyable with the Thai delicious foods and smiling hosts and people. The mission for the young people and Thailand through the organizing of the 1st ICCS Jamboree, 2010 had been succeeded and got a great effectiveness. Our guests from oversea were satisfied and happy especially their experience in touching the Way of Thai. All of them wished to visit Thailand again. Introduction
